Thank you. I will have to try it the two ways and see if I notice a difference. I don't tend to use much fat in cooking in any event. And yes, I will try the homemade pastry at some point!

Im so happy you like it 😊 every time i think of Tikvenik i remember my grandmother 😁

Now, listen: My mother cooks the filling first, then rolls it, but i like to roll it up fresh. Both ways are good, but my way is easier on the stomach because you ingest less grease which gives me heartburn. Keep this in mind, and i encourage you to try both ways and see what you prefer. Also, try rolling out your own pastry sheets, it's more work, but that's the original way, and it's sturdier, and less flaky. Just have fun, it doesnt have to be a chore.
