It's not one I know so can't really help, I'm afraid - are you definitely thinking of Lebanese/Middle Eastern seven spice, though, as there is also a Japanese seven spice that has slightly different ingredients, and I believe can sometimes be made into a sauce with soy sauce and possibly other ingredients.

I've been to restaurants where they use the "seven spice sauce" as a liquid and is dark in color. Would you know what ingredient they use to transform the dry ingredients to that state? Thanks

Allspice is another word for Pimento. It is not quite the same as a mixed spice blend of the first three. Allspice is lovely. Judith

So I think you may be getting confused between allspice and mixed spice - allspice is a spice in itself, it's a small berry-like spice with a flavor similar to cloves. If you can't find it, cloves would be the best alternative (ie just add extra cloves).

Not sure why your recipe calls for all spice, when you are using the very three allspice ingredients (cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg) in the recipe already. Am I missing something? Or do you have addition items in your all spice?

I agree, I do love making homemade blends - both easy and great to be able to scale up and down depending on what you need.
