We've been lucky enough to go to see the cranberry harvest not too far from us a couple times. It's fascinating to see and learn about the process as well as enjoy the fun of the festivities around it.
Don't all the bright berries look so pretty as they are harvested?
Their bright color is also a wonderful way to add some color to the colder, darker months, I think. The fresh berries add the most pop, but even fried cranberries give a splash of color and tasty flavor.
My cranberry sauce will forever be a part of Thanksgiving for us, but we love cranberries in any form. The kids have become fans of cranberry juice now and then, and we too love it's tartness.
I've played around with cranberry juice in cocktails before, such as my cranberry whiskey sour which was an immediate favorite. As we're getting to that time of year again, it seemed only fair to try another!
This cranberry Moscow mule is an easy twist on the classic vodka ginger beer cocktail that takes no time to make and is perfect for any occasion. It's pleasantly tart, with a bit of fizz and all round great to serve at parties or just because. Even without the vodka, it's a tasty mix of flavors.
How to serve a cranberry Moscow mule
The classic way to serve a Moscow mule is in copper mugs, as I have here, but you don't have to, of course. They'd be just as tasty in a glass, even if not quite as festive-looking.
Whatever your vessel, though, serve the mule nice and cold over ice. I'd also recommend adding some frozen cranberries both to look pretty as well as keep it extra cold, without diluting the drink further. A sprig of rosemary is a nice finishing touch too, if you have it.
This cranberry Moscow mule is incredibly easy to make, and a tasty mix of tart flavors, gentle bubbles and that ginger kick. It's the perfect way to toast the season.
